My mom left her friend some Jewelry in her will but friend lives 100's miles away may I just mail it to her?

Are do I have to take it to her or does she have to come and get it.How does it work ?

  1. You could bring it to her, she could come get it, or you could mail it. Or if you have a friend who's heading out that way, you can have them take it. If you do mail it, be sure to get it insured, of course. There's really no pressing need for you to get it to her as soon as possible - you could just give it to her next time you happen to be going towards where she is or when she happens to be coming to where you live.


  2. Talk to your moms friend and ask her what she would like.

Your only legal obligation is to safeguard the jewelry until her friend can get it; however, since it was your mother's wish that she have the jewelry the moral thing would be to go ahead and mail it to her (insured and registred), perhaps with a letter thanking her for being a good friend to your mom.  My condolences on your loss.

  4. I'd send it by courier - the extra safety and the signature would be worth the extra expense.

  5. return receipt requested, with a nice note on how your mother thought so well of her friend.

  6. Just call your mom's friend and tell her your mom left her some jewerly and see what she wants to do.
