Not that I want to be like this. But doesn't your environment affect your character.

  1. yes and when you see undesireable characteristics in family members sometimes you do your best not to duplicate the behavior. whether you realize it or not.

  2. Well you've grown up around your mum and you know her faults but you also realise the outcome of it! ie people getting hurt or getting offended etc. And you want to learn from her mistakes... possibly??

  3. Keep a watch on it.  My niece grew up listening to her mother criticize and judge but it never seemed to effect her.....not until she got a bit older (early 20's).  Now she's just like her Mom - so sad :(

  4. You state a judgment about your mom.

It could have rubbed of easily, but you are not like that in your own judgment.

The implication seems to be that you are better than her.

In my judgment you and your mom are similar.

  5. I suspect your Mum has learnt this way from her own parents perhaps they criticized her and she has continued this habit. It is  good to know that you have broken the cycle.  You are obviously a caring thoughtful person.

  6. I'd say yes and no. I'm no expert, but I find that environment can affect one in different ways. It can either lead for you to become like her, or it can inspire you become different from her. So, in its own way, the environment has affected you, but it's affected you in such a way that you wanted to be a better person.

  7. Cuz u r ur own person! Duh!
