My mom lost her job... everyone did!

My mom has worked in a factory for 8 years around the time we came to the US from Bosnia. My dad is the only one employed right now. Neither have high school diplomas none the less College degrees. My mom can read, write, and talk in English except we don't have the time or money to send either parent to high school. What happened was that the factory she worked at is moving production to china so all of the companies in the US are being shut down because everything is cheaper in China. So it's not that she did anything wrong what could be a good job for her. She can work as a maid and factory worked and she's a great sower (she makes some of my shirts), thats all we can think of. And I'm really scarred she said not to worry but Of course I'm concerned! My dad's job can pay for everything (rent, car load, food, cloths) but that is barley getting by. Please help we really are good people and we are really just struggling, what should we do?

  1. try find an employment agency who can find all these different jobs for your mother, without her scouting all over for one.

They should most definitley be able to help.

Good luck, I hope she finds something!

  2. First of all, I am so sorry your family is having problems.  Can your mother get unemployment?  Is she a citizen?  If she is, have her go to the unemployment office and apply for unemployment and that will help you get by.  It will not pay as much as the job she had, but it will help.  There is a limit on how long she can get it and she will have to look for work while getting it.  Have her try other factories and even try the schools for janitorial work or cooking in the cafeterias.  She can try any place that is close enough for work.  Tell her she can't give up!  If she speaks English and reads and writes in English, then she should be able to find something.  Tell her to keep trying and just encourage her all you can.  You sound like you love your parents very much.  That is a true gift in itself to them.  Good luck.
