My mom made me nervous about babysitting, any advice

A while ago I posted an ad on a site for babysitting and someone responded the other day. I posted on more sites and now I am going to meet someone on Sunday. My mom is coming along (I'm only 16) and we are going to a coffee shop. Everything was fine and she was happy that I was ''doing something'' but now, my mom says that it's going to be a pain in the neck because she's possibly going to have to pick me up at midnight and she doesn't want to and there is no way I am taking the bus. Then she went on about them possibly being maniacs and getting killed. I know there is a possibility, but you just never know with anything. My reply was that I can get killed anywhere and that if I never work nights and if I'm always going to be afraid to do things I'm never going to work, let alone live.

Anyway, she got me all nervous now and I don't know what to do!

to be safe i would not babysit for someone i did not know. you should ask people around the neighborhood. don't be too nervous i mean the chances are very very slim

Take a professional babysitting course before you get really involved in this.

Then, do NOT take jobs without talking to your parents and do NOT take jobs from strangers who may, in fact, want to harm you.

There are a few bad guys out there so that is a viable concern and the ride thing is certainly an issue that you will need your mom's help with.

I am younger than you and i babysit 3 kids at once at night. If you interview the family before you take the job you should be fine. Don't worry about it!

Chances are it will be fine, the family who hires you should make sure you get home safely.  They should drive you home themselves or send you in a taxi.   You could try finding a family to work for through friends or family first then you'd know more about them.   If not maybe your mom could go with you when you first meet them; if they don't like this them maybe they are maniacs. Good luck and good for you for finding work on your own.

When I was your age the paarent s took me home.  I just deducted some from whta they wee paying me.  You take  a chance anytime you get with people you dont know byt sometimes wee have no choice.  Say a pray rvery morning and evernight about yout situation.Ask yout mom ig she has other idead she an tell you how to make money.  Takr domr mase with  you in case you need it.  Check in with your mom everry 1hr or so.

Well, I'm a little skeptical about posting something on any site if you are a young person.  Why aren't you going to the home to meet the kids and have a look see.  We always drove our babysitters home, but I don't know if that's still the practice.  It could be a prerequisite of your taking the job.
