My mom needs an mri on her leg. they say she makes to much for medicaid and she has no ins. what can we do?

  1. either a) get insurance; b) go to the doctor and pay your bill when it comes due; or c) do nothing.  Do you really think you have more options than that?


  2. Try and see if your government has programs to help other people.

  3. Try going to a county hospital or a teaching facility where the fees are based on a sliding scale or a reduced rate.

    Chances are if she needs an MRI, she could need treatment after the results. That way she could (hopefully) get tge medical attention she needs at a more affordable rate.

  4. There are programs to help with the cost of medical procedures. if medicaid can't help try medicare.  Also some hospitals have programs to do procedures like MRI's for free or at a reduced rate.  check with the local senior friendship center (even if your mom is not old enough) if they can't help they may be able to point you in the right direction.  Also check the local hospital(s) Usually if they are non profit (or not for profit) they would be the best chance. You will have to do some work to find them but it never hurts to ask......
