  1. could be.  only way is to get an MRI to see if it is malignant.  Has there been any prior trauma to the area?

  2. She needs to see her dentist, to rule out a tooth abcess or other infection in her mouth, teeth, gums, or bones.

Then she needs to see her family doctor to rule out things like tonsillitis, ear infections, inflammation or infection of the salivary glands .... there area a million reasons why your mom could have an infection somewhere in her mouth or head, and infections will definitely cause the lymph nodes behind your ears or in your neck to swell.

Here's hoping that 10 days with an antibiotic makes her good as new.

  3. Go to a doctor immediately!  It could be serious or it could be a cyst, which is not serious....but better safe than sorry.  It needs checked out immediately!

  4. It may be an infection.  In which case it can be cleared up with simple antibiotics. She'll have to see a doctor to find out for sure.  She should probably go as soon as possible.
