  1. I really like the Sony Cyber-Shot cameras. I have had two of them and they were both very good cameras.

  2. The Nikon Coolpix P80 seems to be the hot ticket today.

Let her choose, if she knows what she wants.

No matter what camera she eventually chooses, make sure she chooses one that uses SD/SDHC memory cards (all but three brands use this card as do PDA's and MP3 players)  Sony uses only Memory Sticks, Olympus and some Fujifillm cameras only use xD memory cards.

  3. hey, it depends on how much you'd like to pay, which you didn't mention, please do so next time though :P The nikon " P" series is a nice line of nikon cameras, the nikon p80 would be a nice camera for your mom. I'd say that it looks like a DSLR ( to some extent), and has an eighteen times zoom, which is alot, and will be useful in practise. I don't think you'll be dissapointed with this camera. Hey, and it has ten megapixels, which is alot, even more so then some DSLR professional cameras. So, i guess that you could get DSLR performance, with lighweight, and you can get vibration reduction in the body, whereby with nikon DSLR's you'd have to attach another lens to get VR. So the nikon p80 seems to be a nice camera to get. i don't see why you would be dissapointed
