My mom wants to meet my date, what do I do!?

I recently broke up with my boyfriend. My parents met him before I even started dating him and he was very involved in my family. When I finally broke up with him, my parents were mad saying he was such a nice guy.

I have known of this new guy since April. We worked together for a month before he became a teller at a credit union. We've been talking over myspace and texting non-stop. He comes to visit me at work and I do the same for him. My parents have never met him and we are going on a date. I don't want my parents to meet him until we are actually dating if that ever happens. I don't think this will be a serious relationship so I don't want to get my family involved. I have tried to tell them we are only friends.

My mom found out about this because of myspace. She has one and is my top friend and she saw that I added this guy to my second top friend.

I'm 17 if that helps. What do I do?

There isn't any reason for your mom not to meet this date. She obviously knows about it, and her meeting wouldn't be a big problem unless you had something to hide, which you don't seem to.

if you don't like the guy like that just tell her.  what could be the harm in introducing them?

Since you are a minor, and are dating adults, she certainly has a right to meet them.  The age difference is not healthy, and if it comes to having s*x, she can have him arrested for statutory rape if she wants.

21 is not a "kid."  She is your mother.  Respect her wishes and concerns.

just have him come in and say hi so they can see him

he doesn't have to come in and have dinner with the family

maybe every time he comes to your house to pick you up he comes to the door that way your parents think of him in a good light.

nothing, you are a minor and under your parents rules.  If they want to meet him before you date or do anything then they meet him.  If they want to restrict you from seeing him, then you don't see them.  Reason why they are the parents.

haha i LOVE paulie bleeker (i actually just saw that movie last night) anyway irrelevent - basically tell them you are just going on a date and it's really early on so you are kind of testing the waters but don't plan on doing anything sexual. ask them to respect your wishes and wait until you feel comfortable bringing him home. (make sure you don't get frustrated though because they might later take that out on him if you guys get serious)
