My mom won't let me shave!?

Question

ok i'm 14 and i never asked my mom if I could shave my legs cause she's the type of people that say's almost no to EVERYTHING. She doesn't shave either but her leg hair like never gets long, and she doesn't wax them or something. When she wears dresses she's always like "should I shave my legs" then I would be like yahh. then she would say something like" Oh, the more you shave the faster it grows" and then she never brings it up. I've never asked her cause i know there are chances she'll say no. So I do it behind her back. But I can't do that forever cause she'll know(when i put my legs on the couch next to her) I can't say its going to be ugly when I wear skirts, cause I only wear mostly capris and rarely skirts. Hellp please! thanks!!

You've got to tell her. It will be good anyways to get it off of your chest and you won't have to worry about it. Tell her how you feel and why it is a good decision. If you can't support your decision...odds are she won't let you shave anymore. (If you have money, tell her you will buy the supplies for shaving.)

For support:

I feel uncomfortable showing my legs anywhere.

Well, first off, the myth about shaving your legs is false. Hair does not grow back thicker / darker after you begin to shave it.

I would seriously go up to your mom and explain how even though she may not have to shave you do, and you would like to. Tell her that it isn't uncommon and you'll be very careful. Tell her your legs make you self conscious and you would appreciate it if she would let you shave.

just go to the store and buy some razors. then just shave you legs in the shower or whenever. what she going to do? yell at you for shaving your legs dont forget your armpits lol?

i was 14 when i started to shave my legs my mom didn't wont me to do it neither but i went behind her back and did it to but then i fort its my legs if i wont to shave them i will just tell her that u shave she cont do nothing about it now because you have started hope this helps

Well, quite frankly i think that is very disgusting. I would keep shaving as long as possible. It's for your own good. And if you shave them they do grow back faster and thicker but that's why you keep on shaving.

Been there! I ended up just shaving it anyway..and dealt with the wrath : ) One thing i would recommend is try to speak to her first your getiing to that age, see if you can get her on board with it. i would also recommend waxing, trust me if you start with it now you will thank me in like 10 years time when your legs are practically hairless : )

and no,it doesnt make the hair grow in faster or thiker,it just looks tht way when it fist starts growing in,but looks normal after its all grown back to its normal length...when she asks about your legs,just be like "i shaved them..dont they look nice" and then just walk away like nothing happened
