my dad works his butt off at work, but my mom wont go. her excuse is that she cant find one since she is old and doesnt speak english. she is 56 btw. i do love her of course, but the family really needs money. she just sits there all day watching tv, sleeping, or gossiping with my grandma. everytime i hint to her to get a job, she gets offended and says that i hate her. i dont know what to do. i surely cant get a job, because my life revolves around school (studying till after midnight and volunteering). what can she do that doesnt require her to speak english or work with technology (computers).

  1. Do you have food on the table?  Are your clothes clean?  Is the house taken care of?

If the answer is yes to these, then it seems that your mom does have a job, and you shouldn't worry about the arrangement that your parents have set up in order to take care of you.

  2. there are plenty of jobs that actually require u to speak a foreing language, i dont know where you're from, but ur mom shud get off her lazy *** and go to an esl school and learn the basics, then go work

and tell her workin teaches you english because whether u like it or not people talk to you

and does she really like the thought of growing old without knowing 2 words in english? when she says u offend her go for the soft spots...just be like, dad works for so long and you do nothing, dont u feel bad not knowing english, i study my *** off  the least you could do is try to learn some english and get any job, wouldnt u love if we could afford more things and so on

i know ure trying not to be disrespectful but thats what i did with my mom, it was the exact same situation and i just beat her down about it one day and about 2 weeks later she got going, went into esl and now shes working 5 days a week

remember, you're sticking up for your dad ;) even tho it means beating down your mom for a second there

if u dont like the thought dont listen to me, my relationship with my mom is very disfunctional, i find myself calling her my dad's wife quite often and its sad

  3. Your Dad needs to kick her *** into gear.

By that, I mean by leaving her and having her realize that she can't live off of others.

  4. There are many opportunities for people who are bilingual. She is just being lazy!  Just be thankful you have a father setting a good example.
