Very frequently ive been noticing that one of my finches,Penguin is picking on another one of finches, Jack. (I also have two other finches, Kathy and Sally)

so today I moved Penguin into a tiny cage alone because I noticed some feathers missing from Jack :(

The problem is, Jack and Sally seem to have made some eggs, but Penguin and Sally are the ones sitting on them because Jack is busy fathering a little hatchling with Kathy (whoa confusing i know)

Anyway, I moved Sally and Penguin(along with their nest and eggs) into their own cage and now neither of them are sitting on the eggs

help?

thanks for helping I know I wrote a huge paragraph (sorry)

  1. find a warm plastic box which you can keep fairly humid to put the eggs in and turn the eggs once a day

  2. aww i'm sorry. I think you disturbed the nest, and therefore the parents don't like the smell of humans. they rejected their eggs. It's the same with other birds/animals. my mom had hamsters and she touched the babies, and the mother actually ate some of them!o.o WOW! Scary. But if I were you, i would put them in an incubator. and you should of moved the other finches that hadn't laid eggs. well, maybe next time.

***********BUT THERE IS ONE OTHER THING!!!!

I own finches and they have laid eggs. But i don't think that it's because you touched the nest. Because I have handled the eggs our finches laid before and they had no problem. maybe it's because they are scared still from moving into a new cage? Because i read that you CAN handle the finch eggs.

  3. since you disturbed them they have probably rejected the eggs.

it may be too late but you could move them to an incubator

  4. put it in a box covered in layers of riped newspaper or something soft.

put it under a light that gets heat easily.it should keep the eggs warm enough.
