Question:

My monarch caterpillar stopped moving. Is something wrong?

It hasn't moved for at least 8 hours. It also hasn't eaten. Its only about 1 inch long.

  1. its ready to go in a coocoon if not just make sure it will drink water, put some up to its mouth


  2. it is rready to spin a cacoon and become a butterfly

  3. Does it still have fresh milkweed available.  You should add plants often.  If it has been eating plants that are dry it may need water.  It may be too small to successfully metamorphose into a butterfly.  It is much easier to hang a net around a caterpillar on a milkweed plant than to try to feed them in a container.
