How come my morning glories are just growing vines and no flowers? My sister and I planted them at the same time and hers have been flowering for weeks. I don't even see a bud that would make a flower?? Can someone help I love these flowers. I have them planted in various locations, I water them like 3 times a day. What am I doing wrong?

  1. morning glories are plants of the field... they thrive on neglect... and the last thing you do is fertilize them... that makes them grow more vine and leaves but not flowers.... and it's true, some will just drag until they're ready and then they'll flower like mad.... I have some that grow on a trellis with cypress vine... and they won't bloom until the cypress does... and my cypress waits till nearly September!!!...

  2. It sounds like your doing everything right but some morning glories for one reason or another when first planted choose not to bloom until late summer.  I would keep doing what your doing and give them a bit more time.  You might want to give them a boost with some rapid grow or plant food and see if this helps with the bloom.  You might want to visit your local nursery for additional insight on getting these beauties to show for you.  Good luck to you !

  3. You are wtaering them too much..morning glories will bloom if you back off the water for they bloom when slightly under stress...I only water mine about once every three days

  4. Morning glory prefers lean soil no fertilizer. if you fertilize you will end up with all foliage and no flowers. Depends when you planted them and what zone your in..,

They need sun and not over watering.

Give them potash fertilizers and water only once a day.

Some morning glories are late bloomers.  The typical blue variety doesn't bloom until later in summer.
