they are being continually verbally abused by the old man and his daughter plus the woman who is the local neighbourhood watch person, the dispute started over a shared path between the house and escalated whenever the police are called they seem to take the word of the old man and his daughter when it is them causing the trouble in the first place what can be done to restore the situation, i have tried to act as negotiater but they are abusive when they are spoken to.it seems that all they are interested in is the old man feelings and not my mother and father who are both ill with worry over the fact that they can not move from there home without being spied on.

  1. Get a solictor, and start sorting out what's legal and what's an infringement of your parents' privacy.

  2. If they have the camera watching the inside of your parents house that's  illegal.  If they have the camera just watching your parents every move that I believe is also illegal   Get a video camera film them when there being abuseive and harassing you have your rights to.  Check your deed regarding that shared path if give a right of way

    good luck

  3. Assuming that you are in the UK...

Contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or council and ask for the contact details of the local Neighbourhood Mediation service. This is an independent service designed to try to help resolve disputes between neighbours etc.

  4. If the camera is pointing towards their property write to him and ask him to move it away.  If he doesn't, write and ask him again, if he still doesn't.  Call the police.

  5. If the shared path is on the other person's property, your parents have no right to use it unless it is listed as an easeway on the deed. You can check on this at the registrar of deeds in your county. If the camera is pointed at the persons own property, then you have no legal recourse.

If however the camera is pointing at your parents house, they can ask for it to be removed.

  6. No it is not legal if the camera is not pointing on his own property, if it is pointing elsewhere then your mother and father have rights, phone police if they do not do anything then go full hog

  7. Seek legal advice, call the police what an unimaginably despicable situation being watched, or kept under surveillance by someone who hates you. What is the world coming to.

  8. unfortunatley its perfectly legal when in your own property.......

  9. The law says that he must display, in plain view, a sign, stating that there is video surveillance.  The same law also states that you are entitled to a copy of any tape, which he must provide, that contains your images.

So every time any one of you uses this path, you should knock his door and ask for a copy.  Maybe this constant, but legal, annoyance, will make them back off a little.

Good luck!  I know how utterly miserable it can be with nightmare neighbours.
