  1. if you sell the house why don't you buy a bungalow instead of going into a council property

  2. yes people do it all the time, cause you need extra cash when you got health probs these days.  good luck

  3. No - the council would refuse to house you as you had made yourself intentionally homeless.

  4. there are certain criteria to be eligible for a council place.

thousands upon thousands of people who have to private rent are waiting to be housed by the council,my partner and i and our daughter have waited 3 years already and that isn't as long as some people who have been waiting 10 years.

You have a property don't take that for granted, if you do end up with a place with the council you'll be taking away that place from  family that REALLY needs it.

    sell your house and downsize.

  5. Yeah sure your mostly likely be faster for you to get a council flat/house with health problems :) Hope this helps

  6. No. There are far far fewer council properties for rent than people seem to imagine since Maggie Thatcher sold masses' of them off to existing tenants and very few councils used the pittance received towards building new stock!  Every Council in the country has a waiting list which can be anything up to 10 years or more long.

If you sell your house you will be making yourself homeless and add to that the cash received and you will find that although you could certainly apply for a property you would get stuck way way down the list.
