  1. Ask your mother about the agency she went through and if she knows any information about his adoptive parents. Or look up an adoption forum for your state online.

  2. You don't say where your brother was born and adopted and that makes a huge difference to giving you an accurate answer

For example if it was in the UK and many other countries, you would be entitled as a birth relative to access information about your brother

However, if it was in the USA it will be a little more difficult, but not impossible, because of the archaic sealed adoption records laws that most States still cling on to.  Even in the handful of States that have opened adoption records to the Adult Adoptee, they have yet to open them up to birth relatives as well (I know, they live in another century!)

If you edit your question to say which Country/State you are looking you will get some really useful guidance from good people who know the ropes.

People find each other despite sealed records, don't worry.  A good place to start is to register with the largest reunion registry:

Here's hoping that the freedom of association of ALL Americans will be reinstated very soon :)

  3. You can go to different adoption agencies in the state he was born in...they might can help you.

  4. If you know the state he was born in there is a adoption forum that you may be able to post the information you know about him and see if anyone might be of assistance or maybe someone knows a better way to find out what you need to know.

    Hope this helps....good luck!

  5. My little sister found me by cross checking my birthday + a range of several days with legal name changes.  Somewhere you can search that, I'm not sure where she found it though.  She then narrowed the field by s*x.  Checked state drivers license info on me after doing an online search which named FL as my home state and determined I was the best fit because of my height, hair and eye colors...

Then she sent me a letter.

    Good luck.
