Question:

My mother in law is painting and she wants help?

i just found out im pregnant my fiance and i were planning on telling his mom this weekend but they are painting her house i was going to help before i found out i was pregnant is it safe for me to go or should i sit this one out and wait to tell her a little longer

  1. Ask your doctor to be sure.  I painted during my first pregnancy (with the windows fully open for ventilation) and it was fine.


  2. Paints these days have been very safe, although it needs to be well ventilated just the fumes will send you off into the bathroom.  I do have to say that when i had my 4th son, my husband was repainting the house and made me go visit my mother for a couple of days until the fumes wore off.

    I just spoke to my husband who is a supervisor for a painting company, and he said, if you were his wife he would say don't go over there until the fumes are gone. He must know something. So, don't go.

  3. I'm sure u can..but I would just sit it out.

  4. If it's odorless paint you should be fine.  New moms paint their baby's nursery's all the time.    

  5. It should be fine as long as she is not using oil based paint.  Then I would say maybe not.  Most people do not use oil based paint though.
