Long story short, she lives with us, but for most of her life her brother has been supporting her, she is smart, but never finish anyting like getting her Dr. degree, or really accomplished anything, for no good reason, now she is with us to help with my 2 year daughter, my husband and I both work full time. She is retired because she was tired of working, and now she can't afford to live on her own, since we needed help with babysitting she figured it would work out, but there are some things about her that truly annoys me. Help, some advice!!!

  1. wow, you are truly a good women.  if my husband ever ask my mother in law to live with us; i would divorce him.  i don;t even let my mother in law near my daughter better yet watch her while i work.  look at it this way, if she is old, she won;t live that long.  my MIL is 70 something so i am keeping my finger cross, lol

  2. I have also lived with my mother-in-law, I managed 2 years! Albeit the worst 2 years of my life!

If it seems to be getting on your nerves you need to set some rules.  Sit down with your Husband and discuss what bothers you both.  Then approach his Mum and attempt to compromise.

It's so much better to air your problems then let them boil up inside you (as i done!)

You both, as a married couple, need your own time.  But remember that it suits you at the moment as she babysits for you so be careful.

    Good Luck!!

  3. When you and your husband are both off from work go on a short vacation with your daughter, and leave your mother in law home to watch the house. Take as much free time you can and get away from her as mush as possible.
