of my driving. But, the thing is... I'm a good driver for a beginner. That's what everyone else says. My question is... how do I get my mom to loosen up and remain calm when I'm behind the wheel? I told her to just trust me... but, she's still scared to death. Any advice?

  1. Giver her a watermelon and koolaid, or even better, watermelon flavored koolaid then stop by the KFC drive through.

  2. tell ur mom that ur grown up and that ur not scared cuz parinoid drivers are the accident causers here are some options

1.tell ur mom that i am grown and resposible

2.go to short places before driving for longer periods

  3. Take a driver's ed class, then have the instructor talk to your mother to assure her of your skills.  Parents are horrible when it comes to driving, it's just natural for them to be scared.

Try having your mother sit in the back seat of the car, and fill the remaining seats with people for her to talk to while you drive.  She'll be distracted from your driving, which may even imrpove your driving - alert parents only increase anxiety.  Afterwards, point out the fact that everything went well during the drive, or have one of your passengers mention it.  This might cool her off and make her realize you can handle things.  (This actually worked wonders for me.  My dad stopped making his stupid little pointers as I was driving.)

If you are a completely new driver, try getting another adult or an instructor to teach you - that way you won't have to deal with your mother's anxiety, and she'll be comforted by having a proffessional teacher.

If none of this works, just give it time.  She'll get over her fears eventually.

  4. my mom was the same way.. when i first started driving she would yell at me for going over 15mph on the side streets and even though i was holding everyone up she was still holding onto the "oh, ****" handle... haha i guess its normal.. and she didn't even let me go onto the busy streets.. i had to learn for myself. but its been a while and she has gotten used to it.. i guess its just cuz we are like our mothers' babies.. :)

  5. I assume that she is the passenger when you are driving. Does she drive herself? My mother didn't and she used to

drive me crazy talking away and telling me that light was coming up and don't forget that stop sign etc. I finally had to

tell her that if the government didn't think I was a safe driver they wouldn't have given me a license. That shut her up and

also the more she drove with me the more she saw I was a good driver. I guess it will just be a matter of time for you.
