My mother passed last month and her old employer just sent me her final check plus a check for her accumulated vacation and sick pay and bonuses. How do I go about collecting the funds. I obviously cant ask her to sign it which is what my bank told me to do when I asked them. Yeah...I told them she was deceased and they said "oh well, cant help you then. We have to have her signature." Ridiculous.

  1. Did your mother have a bank account?  If so, and it is still open, it should be a simple thing to write "for deposit only to the account of So & So" where the endorsement goes.  Then it will be part of her estate, as it should be, and distributable to her heirs

  2. MY dad got a check from his friends work and they told him

    he couldnt get it either

    its stupidd !

what i would do is go to your mom's work place and tell them

    nicely! (:

  3. You have to submit an affidavit claiming yourself as only legal heir to receive all company dues of your late mother and taking "no objection" sign of other legal heirs, if any on the same. Submit it to company, so that they can prepare cheque on your name. Don't forget to collect amount of PF, Pension, Superannuation scheme or any other social security scheme applicable to your mother through company other than last salary, leaves, bonus amount etc. Also settle last medical expenses incurred on your mother, if she is covered under any company medical scheme.

  4. ok the bank cant tell you this because basically/technically its forgery but you can do this....have someone sign your mothers name ( or you write it but sign it more like hers)...and then you sign your name and put under it your account number for deposit only...then when it clears its all yours....they just really want to make sure it doesn't bounce and they get stuck with it...or if it was stolen and someone has a stop payment order on it.....go to another bank branch too so that will cause less of a problem...i think a lot of married people do that all the time....my husband will say "oh my paycheck is on the table I forgot to sign it....so I sign it and deposit it and it usually clears the next day if you get there before 2 the day before.....and my condolences too

  5. oh sorry to hear that. but umm all you can do it FIGHT for it say well how in the world am i going to get her signiture?!?! and just take charge, stand up, and say what you want.

  6. So sorry about your Mom's passing. Endorse the check and deposit it in your bank. Try not to imitate your Mom's signature. Just sign it.

Or ask the employer to rewrite the check in your name.

She worked for it and earned it and you are her heir I am sure.

If you are not, it should go to whoever is her heir.

  7. If your her heir you can sign it,just like the bank wanted, just sign/print  her name, sign yours under it and deposit the check liek normal.
