Question:

My mother selected for Jury Duty?

How do i get her out of it?? She knows VERY little english, and speaks english like a newborn. I read that she can be postponed for 90 days, but will have to do it eventually. And there is a fine and punishment for not attending?? What happened to free will? I know a US citizen must do it at least once in their life time, but my mother will be utterly confused!

Will they understand if they know this? Perhaps take her out of it?

  1. in the letter it should tell u if theres a reason that u wish not to attend?

if it doesnt just call or go to the place where she has to attend to tell them but u hve to go before the date is close or she will get in serious trouble

  2. hey i know FREE WILL i guess exsist in mars now! lol

but call them ******* up and tell them about how little english your mommy speaks if they don't understand say she has to be at a very important place that day...that way they probably will reschedule it or maybe not even need her that day...

ha ma dad is an actual ex-CON so he can't actually do jury duty...lucky him!

yeah let's be one too! lmao

na don't do that just explain like i told you...hope i helped

  3. I have never been allowed to sit on a jury, the attorneys excused me right after asking about my educational achievement. They did the same to all who expressed higher education and grad school.

  4. Jury duty is an important civic duty that every citizen should honor.  However, for folks that cannot speak english, the court will excuse them.  She might have to show up to court anyway.  However, I would recommend first contacting the jury commissioner in your county, or the commissioner/clerk if it is federal court.

Yes, there can be a fine but it is rare.  Make the call.

  5. got the runs!!!!!!!!

  6. if ur mother is not a us citizen she shouldnt be selected to do jury duty if not go down to the local authorities and get her to explain the situation (not you her) and if they still say she has to do it she has to) they might not want her to do it if she cant speak english

    hope this helps
