Question:

My motor home has battery problems!

The coach batteries (that power the 12V stuff) always keep going dead. We tried buying new batteries and installed them but still they go dead. We tested the converter and its charging at 13.6V just like it should be but still they go dead. The chassis battery is fairly dead and we need to jump start it to get the motor home running. Does anyone know the problem and how to fix it?

  1. A battery goes dead because there is a drain on it. Either a short or something is on somewhere in the motorhome.

This is hard to locate because there are so many things that can be on in a motorhome.

    Good Luck!

  2. SOMETHING IS LEFT ON AND DRAINING THE BATTERY ------PULL ALL THE FUSES 1 AT A TIME AND RECONNECT LOOKING FOR A SPARK .  WHEN YOU FIND A SPARK CHECK TO SEE IF IT BELONGS ON OR NOT . IF YOU CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM --GET A SHUT OFF SWITCH FOR THE BATTERY ------WAL*MART HAS THEM FOR AROUND $ 12 - $ 15 AND PUT IN LINE FROM THE MAIN BATTERY SO AS TO ALWAYS HAVE A FULL HOT BATTERY TO START UP WITH .

  3. Try to get a regular home, then you might not have these troubles. JKJK hmm, sounds like the rotators might be jammed or the exhaust belt snapped.

  4. i know the feeling..you feel like burning the thing... we paid 260 euro for a battery and now it work's...hope you ge it sorted..

  5. could still have a short putting a constant draw on your batteries!

talk to one of the guys that work for the school bus garage, buses get the same problems all the time... doesn't hurt to ask, cheapper then $120 hr to get it looked at!

  6. MOVE!

  7. check the isolator solenoids as they may be staying on due to broken spring. This is what i've found most often
