  1. ck if hand brake lever or foot brake lever or both cuz short.

if not both then ck grounding around hand or foot lever.

if both lever cuz short then start checking for ground problem from bulb and go back ward toward levers.

  2. Not likely a short as this is not usually going to blow the bulb

First I would check that you have the correct voltage bulb.  I know that it sounds crazy but stranger things have happened and then if that is OK check the rate at which the bike is charging.  If the charging voltage is just about 1 to 2 volts above battery voltage that is about OK but if it goes above say 3 or more above battery then the highest wattage bulbs will be the first to go

    Good luck

  3. I would check the bulb socket. Even if there was a short it would blow a fuse, not the bulb. check the grounds as well....

  4. If the rear brake unit is subject to vibration go to a motorcycle dealers and buy a bulb which is specially made to combat vibration . They have an extra support on the element to stop it breaking.

  5. If it's the only bulb that's blowing, then the regulator / rectifier should be OK, I'd suspect either faulty bulbs, possibly 6v rather than 12v, or the tail unit is loose, causing a lot of vibration that's killing your bulbs.

Just a quick note, I assume your brake light isn't constantly on?

  6. " Make sure you have the right fuse in for that bulb , if not take the lens of ans clean the contacts with a wire brush or bit of sand paper , it sounds like a bad earth , so check the negative wire on your battery as well , make sure its clean "

  7. you could just simoly be putting the bulb in with your bare hand and the oil from your hands is blowing the bulb.
