  1. If it is parked on the street (or even apartment parking lot), then you need a plate.  To have a plate, you need insurance.

I've owned 3 bikes so far.  I've been riding since 1982 (NYC).

    Good Luck...

  2. Yes, it needs to be insured.

Where the bloody h**l do you live? If I parked my bike on the road and left it there it'd be gone within a week!

  3. yes if a vehicle is parked on the road it must be taxed mot.d and insured and if you let the tax expire you must declare it as a sorn vehicle this means that dvla knows you keep the vehicle off road and the fines go up to £5000 if you get caught using it

  4. If it's kept on the road, it needs to be insured: I'm amazed it hasn't been taken away yet, as the police are very hot on uninsured vehicles - they can take & crush them without warning.

As others have said, it gives liability cover in case of a third party being injured by your stationary bike - eg, falling over or catching fire.

You must also be aware that if it gets stolen or damaged whilst uninsured, you're going to get nothing.

  5. If it's on the road, it must be taxed and insured. Best off to put it in your yard.

  6. in the uk you need to insure for it to be on the road

if not what you do if it gets nick  or some car knocks it over

you will not beable to claim

  7. Whether you legally need to, I'm not sure. However, all it takes is one kid mucking about on/near it, and the bike falls onto them...

Insurance insures against the things we hope will never happen.

  8. If it it in the street, it needs MOT, tax, and insurance.

  9. Hi,

If the Motorcycle is parked somewhere, you will need to insure if for theft, also fire.

If you don't, someone could steal it or set it alight, there would be no cover for it.

But you do not need Motor insurance unless it is in Motion.
