My mouse has mites... is rubbing alcohol ok to use?

i called petco and the one person said to use 1/3 rubbing alcohol and the rest water just dont out it on the face... i have never heard of this and dont want to do anything to hurt her... has anyone else heard of this?

  1. alochol will not kill mites, get some mite killer made for MICE at the pet store, they make cage hangers that keep mice from getting mites, should be only 2 or 3 applacations to fix


  2. I would not listen to the people at petco.

    Mice groom themselves and rubbing alcohol does NOT sound like something safe to put on him, because he may l**k it off. I don't know if that would do much to the mites, anyway. You need to bring him in to a vet and get the proper treatment, or purchase Ivermectin from a feed or tractor supply store and find out the proper dosage. Are you even certain that it's mites? They can't be seen by the human eye, so generally a vet will take a scraping and examine it under a microscope to see. Make sure to clean out his entire cage, all his toys, throw out anything wood, and soak all hideouts and items in the cage in a water/bleach solution. Then spray them all with vinegar/water and rinse.
