My mouse is sick! Help?

Question

I think my mouse is sick, she's panting and occassionally wheezing, it sounds like something is rattling around in her lungs. She also seems to be sleeping alot more, and she's lost some weight but she has no discharge from her eyes, nose and so on.

Also, she used to love to run around my arms, but now when I pick her up she squeaks and starts to wheeze again.

My other mouse also seems to have it, but it isn't quite so serious.

They have paper bedding which I replace every week and they live in an aquarium. Could she have respiratory infections?

If not, what would you think they have and what is the best way to treat it? Would liquid vitamins be any good?

I could probably take them to the vet but my parents don't care much for mice, so it would have to wait till next weekend.

if the paper has newsprint on it, that will be causing allergies. make sure you are not using cedar wood in anything in her cage. if u think it is really serious, take her 2 a vet and see what they say. she may have a chest infection in which case u will need medicine.

Is the mouse old? Mouses are after all kinda worthless animals in natures circulation and they don't live long. And i don't think that they take mouses to wet.. Or maybe? But are u willing to pay..

see if you can get them out of the aquarium. or change it more than once a week. mice are adorable but their urine is strong. change it at least every 2-3 days. you could put a vicks vaporizer or something like that in the room on the opposite side. it should help them breathe easier but you should probably go to a vet as antibiotics would be helpful.
