  1. It sounds as if it is not getting gas or the gas it is getting is stale. How old is the gas you are using? If more than a couple of months try fresh fuel.

If the fuel is new you may want to try various positions with the throttle position. When you start it do you start in the "Choke" position?...if "no" maybe you should try to choke it at starting.

if "yes" you may be leaving it in the choke position too long. Try starting and then immediately move the throttle from "Choke" to run.

If none of these work, try staring the mower with throttle in other positions.

Hope one of these work for you.

  2. I would remove the spark plug and clean it; check that the choke plate is in the proper position across the throat of the carbuerator;( you can do this by removing the air cleaner and looking in after you set the choke and before you start the engine ); and while it's off check that the air cleaner is not fouled; if it dies before changing the settings remove the air cleaner and see if the choke plate is blocking the throat of the carb.

  3. You said you put too much oil in it and had to drain it. This would cause your plug to have oil on it and create the problem. I recommend checking this along with the filter. Take the plug out and turn the engine over to blow out excess oil, clean the plug and filter and install. Try it and see if this helps

  4. gas?

  5. bad gas, coil out, bad spark plug same thing happened to mine and it was the coil.
