  1. I've had this problem twice and it's easy and cheap to fix.

Basically you have a heat shield covering  your catalytic converter. All you have to do is go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a metal strap to lock it back into place.

Each car has a little metal shield covering their catalytic converter. Your's probably has gotten loose.

I'm not sure the name of the strap, but it looks something like this:

and you can get them at any hardware store for less than $3.00 and they are tightened with a s***w driver.

  2. If the muffler is rattling you replace it, if a hanger is loose you get under the car and follow the exhaust front to back and check all the hangers.

  3. just follow the pipes and tighten the one that is loose

  4. My guess is that it's a loose heat shield.  Sometimes they're bolted on, other times riveted on.  the only way to find out is to get under the car and give things a shake.  Be sure to support the car with jackstands for safety...never trust the jack only.  Also put blocks in front of and in the rear of the weels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.   Do this on FIRM LEVEL GROUND.

  5. Have someone shake while you listen. Be careful and make sure the car has cooled down first. Don't touch anything that might be hot. If it is cool to the touch, grab the pipe in different locations and shake. If your hearing it while your driving you should be able to find it without much trouble.

  6. Same thing here. Mechanic fixed it for the price of the bolt. I suspect you look for the wiggly joint by wiggling them, but I don't climb under cars so a good dose of salt is to be taken here.

  7. Take it too a shop.
