so I planted them in the garden on saturday. Do you think they will grow a viable crop - variety is Golden Wonder? I have already grown potatoes from special seed potatoes but these were just ones from the supermarket that had sprouted.

  1. Golden Wonder are a great eating potato and renowned for keeping, they do ,however, need a long time in the ground to perform at their best and it is a bit late in the year to get a big crop from them, unless we get a superb end to the growing season.  It is always worth a try !

  2. You'll definitely get some spuds if you plant it. My friend tried it for a laugh and was really successful. My delightful hubby put a couple of sprouting spuds in my compost bin! The little blighters have been growing. There's no sun getting to the shoots that have been coming up though cause of the lid so I might be alright. Should have a giggle when I come to use the compost next spring! lol

  3. If you plant them in a mound, as usual, in a sunny spot, yes, you will get potatoes.  i've done this many times

  4. Yes they should grow Potatoes are a very hardy vegetable and next year you should depending on how many you planted have a good crop

  5. yes they will.

you should get a nice crop from them, i sometimes plant spuds in the ground once sprouted and they are lovely.

  6. yes you should get a good crop from them

  7. Definately. I did this a couple of months ago with a supermarket spud and I got a lovely crop of 15 from just one sprouting spud!!  They were yummy.

  8. Try stopping them :-)

As a kid I planted some sprouting potatoes from the supermarket and got loads the next year. You may even find that you miss some when you dig them up and they come up the year after. I did absolutely nothing - didn't even water them.
