  1. A Pug that is registered and has a good pedigree means that it was probably well-bred, and will not run into any health problems in the future. Was the pup sold on a contract?

    To my understanding, KC is the British Kennel Club (correct me if I'm wrong). I do know that UKC stands for United Kennel Club. They're both reputable kennel clubs. I'm not sure if she *can* change it, but she shouldnt need to.

  2. KC = Kennel Club.  UKC (United Kennel Club) is just one of the many different Kennel Clubs.  Your dog is already registered with the UKC, which is a reputable registry.  You don't need to register with any other KC's.

  3. The parents would both have to be registered AKC "American Kennel Club" in order for the offspring to be AKC.  So, the answer to your question is NO, you can't.

  4. What? Are you planning on showing the dog?  If not, then why do you care what its registered under?

    UKC=United Kennel Club

    My dogs are both show dogs and are registered under

    AKC=United Kennel Club

    It honestly doesn't matter at all if your not into showing dogs, which obviously your not since you didn't know about this.

    The dog is probably from some pet store or something, kennel clubs mean nothing when you but a puppy mill dog.

  5. If you want to show the dog in American Kennel Club shows or obedience or agility trials, then the dog would need to be registered with the AKC.  The registration cannot be transferred from UKC.

    However, for obedience, rally,and agility trials, you can get an ILP number from the AKC.  You will need to submit photos of the dog from the front and side, along with a registration fee and paperwork to the AKC.  Once they determine it is a purebred pug, they will issue an ILP number.  Form and other information can be found on www.akc.org.

    If you do not plan to show the dog, then you may or may not want to get this registration.

    Some folks will tell you that UKC registration does not mean anything.  In the US, the AKC is considered the "premier" registration club, while other registries are just knock offs.  You can make your own opinion on this one.

  6. as said by others the UKC is the United Kennel Club. (its based in the USA)

    I dout you can change it to KC (The Kennel Club in the UK for posters going on about the AKC).

    But you could all ways email them and ask about it. here is there site, there contact info is on there.

  7. Unless you plan on showing the dog, what Kennel Club it is registered with isn't important.

    United Kennel Club is a reputable registry and I wouldn't change it.

  8. I think people are confused because they don't know if you are in the USA or UK - or somewhere else.

    If you are in the UK, the only registration which has any meaning (for the majority of breeds) is Kennel Club Registration. Only the breeder can register dogs with the KC and their parents have to be registered there already.

    Any other registration is just a scam. Other than in the USA, I've never heard of UKC.
