My mum is taking me to Ireland we are going to shannan airport?

Can anyone tell me how far airport is from a town. is it near sea. Is it nice. any info would be great. Mum says she hasent a clue but its a cheap flight ..lol

Shannon is near the sea, the nearest city is Limerick (20 minutes). The nicest areas nearby (within 1-2 hours drive) are country Kerry, Cork, Clare and Galway. Look on www.discoverireland.ie for interesting things to see in those areas. I recommend you rent a car otherwise getting by with public transport will be painful! Enjoy!

Actually you could have picked a better airport.  Shannon is a small airport and you are only 20 minutes from the ocean in some parts.  You are in County Clare where there is so much to see.  15 minutes from Limerick City and only 20 minutes from Ennis both worth visiting.  If you are going in May the flead nuh is going on in Ennis.

In Shannon if you stay in that area some of the nicest quaint B&Bs very reasonable and drive or catch bus to Limerick, Ennis or sightseeing in very reasonable.

There is a small mall in Shannon but a nice bigger one in Limerick Crescent.

Then there is a lot of lovely little shops in Ennis.  You have to visit Lahinch and Doolin on the West Atlantic Shore.  So much to see.  Even around Shannon so much history and places to visit.

If you get a chance to go South visit Tarbert and see how beautiful the Shannon River Estuary is.
