Okay, so I want to become a vegetarian because I hate the taste and smell of meat and my mom buys cheap meat so I don't want to think that the animals are getting mistreated.

But I told my mum I wanted to become one and she went mad!

Also she likes her meat too much and almost every meal she serves has meat in, lamb, sausages, everything! And I'm forced to eat it...

The other day my sister had a KFC and I had to wind the car window down the smell was that bad to me, but my mum just told me t wind the window up.

Gah!

Please help...

  1. i think you should have a sit down talk with your mom, one on one. you need to explain that you hate meat, and it literally makes you sick. you can inform her by telling her you can get protein in many other places other than meat. (if she is worried about your health.). i am a vegetarian, it takes some work, but from the sounds of it, you are ready to become one. if nothing else works,  you should completely refuse to eat meat until they want to talk or let you become vegetarian. good luck.

  2. dont tell her you want to become one just start that is what i did

  3. well just refuse to eat meat

  4. until you can move out you are at the mercy of your mom....

but you can scale back and focus more on veggies and such.  make sure you still get your protein though. tofu or nuts are good for that.

when you mom cooks, you don't have much choice, but you can offer to cook a few meals here and there, and make them veggie friendly.

be a good example, and don't fight- it gets you no where, just be a good example for your family and friends.

it is an individual choice, just like you don't like your mom forcing you to eat meat, don't FORCE your choices on others.

    good luck

  5. dont eat the meat. she might get mad bbut it proves your point. if your a type of person who like torturing people  show her one of the slaughter house videos. im sure you can find one on youtube.

  6. If you're old enough to decide to become a veg, you're old enough to cook it, or at the very least menu plan for alternatives.  Help your mom in the house, offer to make vegetarian food for lunch and dinner, and show her that you can get enough nutrients from a veg diet (go to the library and do research on how to supplement your food so that you don't miss out on any nutrition).

You can't eliminate meat without something to take its place, and you can't expect her to do the research for you.

Also, when in the kitchen, don't try to force your mom or family to go veg.  When you're cooking, while your mom does the meat, you can do the alternative.

BTW: Cheap meat=cheap cut, it doesn't have anything to do with the treatment of the animal

  7. Give her your reasons. Show her these sites as well..

    peta.org

    GoVeg.com

    Vegan.com

Good Luck, and great choice of lifestyle.

  8. Listen to your mum

  9. shutup cry baby some people dont even get to choose what they eat becasue they dont eat! so be happy with what you have

  10. Wow! ! Your mom has a lot to  learn!

If you do decide to become one anyway  make sure you do some research on how to get your protein.  Hemp milk and shakes, sprouted nuts and seeds, beans and rice. The best way to eat is raw and sprouted foods. Cooking kills enzymes and nutrients. If I wee you I would do some research on raw and living foods- if you really want to eat healthy.

Free range animals supposedly don't get mistreated. If you are going to eat meat. Your mom can find these meats in a health food store.

  11. eat whatever she serves, just don't eat the meat.

  12. Find research on the benefits of being a vegetarian and share them with your mom.

  13. nobody can force you do do anything. if you feel strongly about it sit down with you mum and explain why you feel this is the lifestyle choice for you and you respect her choice but you dont want to eat it. if you feel strongly about something you have to stand up for it even if its difficult at first. people will respect you for that too. but before you you talk to her research what you will need for a healthy veg diet that way she wont be able to argue the unhealthy point and it is very easy to eat unhealthy when you don know. good luck

  14. Just don't eat meat that is what I dad my mother was the same KFC is kentucky fried crulty Don't eat it

  15. just dont eat meat.......
