Does anyone know how to spell my name (Courtney) in Irish Gaelic and how to pronounce it? Or know of a good fool proof site on how to find out? Thanks!

  1. It wouldn't be O'Curnáin (oh kurr-noine) - O is just an prefix used in surnames to denote ancestry from the named family. Curnáin would be an acceptable translation, as it is the Irish version of the Norman name (de) Courtney. I've also seen this written as Cuirnán which would change the pronunciation slightly to "kwer-nawn".
