I am really starting out. I have a SAG card. Got that through an internet commercial. I have no manager or agent yet. Actually thinking of going to college in Los Angeles, so I get out there and network. I deff. want to do Film and TV, but would love to be in a off-broadway or broadway show some day. What do you think?

  1. I recommend LA for tv/film (which sounds like a better fit, since you got your SAG card) and NYC for theatre (but you'll need AEA for any substantial auditions). It's hard to make it in both places... but networking is the KEY!!

  2. you have to decide what you want to do first. Broadway or Tv/film?

I think film would be the way to first. just my opinion though. So LA first. then once you have a good career going, go out to broadway.

plus you want to go to college...so there you go. You have to take things step by step.

  3. new york all the way! if u get discovered and can get on broadway, and ur really good, u may be asked to be ina movie. and it'll look really good on ur resume.

  4. New York is the place to be.  Not only is there all the stage work worth doing, but several primetime shows have moved here in the last two years and films are plentiful.  Besides, if you're good and can get an agent, many agencies are bi-coastal, so if you're right for something on the west coast, they'll submit you. You can do the mecca out there for pilot season, as many do.  That's the only time LA is useful, anyway.

LA is filled with wannabes and losers with a SAG card they earned doing a bit part they got because they were a "type", and now they wander around peddling their headshots and beefed-up resumes to every client they serve the dinner salad to.

LA is a vast wasteland, and as far as air pollution goes, LA is the WORST.

  5. L.A.! New York is good if you want to breath in air pollution. L.A. however is totally beautiful, great warm weather, plus Holly Wood isn't that far away.
