My name is a guys name! People always make fun of my name! How do I react?

My name is Bobbi and I am a girl! People ALWAYS say "that's a guy's name!" There is a commercial that says "Bobby has his first chest hair" so people ask me to measure it, what color is it and do you cut it? So my question is what do i say to people that make fun of my name?

tell them 2 be quiet cuz actually, bobbi isnt only a guys name.  i have heard of more than 1 girl named bobbi :]  its just like the name taylor, it can be a guys name or a girls.  and 4 the commercial thing, just ignore them cuz 2 tell u the truth, thats the STUPIDEST thing i have ever heard...they r reli immature if they make fun of u cuz of a commercial, like wat grade r they in, 2?  hope i helped :)

Don't worry about a thing girl! Bobbi IS a girls name.And when they ask you stuff like that then just tell them.......... just be like "i like my name. dont be jealous cuz yours sucks" haha u have to be confident and make it clear that it doesnt affect you (even if it does a little) cuz they will stop. if you make it visible how proud and in love you are with your name, no one will try to shoot you down.

You need to embrace your name instead of letting people crush it. For ex. Do you know how Artist/Singer Sting got his name? It's because his mom made him a bright yellow sweater with big black stripes that made him look like a bumble-bee. So kids would mess with him at school. Or better yet. My name's Corvus. There are so many neutral s*x names. Bobbi, Jesse, Morgan, Erin etc... I really don't know of a good "Zinger" but I would for sure not let whoever is making fun of your name get to you. Seriously that is so immature and Um....not funny?!?!   Next time some Smart A$$ Brat says something like "Measure your chest hair Bobbi" I would say I bet my chest hair is longer then your D*ck...or if they say anything about your name and you can't think of anything else just be like really snotty and sarcastic as He!!  And say "Oh That's a knee slapper genious"  <~ Something like that.  And roll your eyes and if you are able walk away like "what the he!! or whatever" seriously people will drop it usually if they see it doesn't bother you. First of all, stop hanging around the kind of losers who would make fun of you like that.

Second, I went to imdb.com and found a bunch of actresses listed there who have Bobbi as a first name.  Go there yourself, find one your peers have probably heard of, and tell them you're named after the great actress, Bobbi ________.  

If they still tease you, my advice is to respond with a classy put-down.  Tell them it's only a guy's name in English speaking countries, but if they had any class at all they'd know that it means "replete with feminine beauty" in Medieval French, and was a popular name for many of the princesses in he Merovingian Dynasty.  Unfortunately, this is a huge lie (I just made it up), but the kind of people who would tease you this way will never know the difference.

If your boyfriend/husband tells them this lie, they may even be more inclined to stop the teasing because of the implied threat of bodily harm.

If all else fails, try introducing yourself differently.  When people ask you your name, tell them to "Just call me _______" and you put in whatever name you like best.  Something feminine and exotic - Miranda or Daphne or Natasha (Tasha for short).  Once they get to know and like you, they'll be too worried about hurting your feelings to make the "that's a guy's name" comment to you if/when they find out you're name is really Bobbi.

Personally, I think Bobbi sounds sweet and somehow old-fashioned - like a female character's name from a 1940s or 1950s movie.  Can't you just imagine Debbie Reynolds or Doris Day playing a character named Bobbi when she was in her late teens/early twenties?
