My nan used to tell me that thunder & lightning was only God moving his furniture around or it was the clouds?

bumping together, what words of comfort did you receive?

I was always told it was God moving his furniture around or someone had made him angry i cant remember though what i was told the lightening was, maybe thats why lightening still scares me lol

I actually don't remember being told anything, but I love storms for some reason. Knowing I am safe inside (or even out if safe), I simply love the rumble of thunder and the flash of lightening. I love hearing rain pound on the roof, for some reason I actually find all these things soothing. I expect someone must have told us kids something good as none (4) of us are afraid of storms. I'm going to check that out with my Mom. Good question.

When I was little I was told that the angels were bowling and that the lightning was when they missed, lol. I just tell my three year old son that means it is probably going to rain. And so what I do when it thunders or lightning hits when he looks at me I say, "WoW did you hear that thunder"? I try to make it like the sound is cool, so when he hears it, he says stuff like "Mommy that was loud...is the rain coming now mommy"? lol Its cute b/c he doesn't have a fear associated with it, just the knowledge that those sounds mean a storm is coming and there will be rain.

I think that it sounds more like some one is very angry and smashing things!

never the less I always ran indoors while my dog ran under the house to hide from it.

I had a relative pass away when I was young, and it was really hard for me. So my mother always told me that it was my aunt up there, getting together with all my other relatives having a good ol' time bowling and dancing and giving us a show. It always made me so excited when we would get a storm!
