My neighbor occaisionally invents something wacky. Will this lessen my property values?

As long as you nor your neighbors can see, smell or hear it and it causes no strange health problem then no there should be no effect on your property value.  If any of those answers are yes or it is obvious he is a kook then they could go down.  Of course if he invents the cure for cancer or something you would then live next to a historical landmark of some sort which might bring your property value up.

"invents"  as in explosives? bad smelly things? loud noises? or just lawn ornaments?

if they don't affect you or the neigborhood then they will do nothing to the property value
