Question:

My neighbor was on vacation and her geraniums got dry. Will they come back? They are potted.

  1. Probably not. But they shouldn't be too hard to replace :)


  2. If there's any green left in the stem or leaves, it may survive. Saturate the soil with water by placing the pot in a tub of water and adding more water to the top of the plant.  Keep adding water to the top until the air bubbles stop forming at the top of the plant .  Cut away all of the stalks and leaves that are brown and completely dried out.  Leave all of the green material remaining on the plant.  Check the need for additional water by picking up the plant daily.  When it is significantly lighter than it was the day before, that means the soil ball has dried out sufficiently enough to deeply water once again as per the instructions above.  Put the pots in a shady area and gradually increase light as you notice new growth.   If they forget to water again, the plants will probably be done for.  Good luck!

  4. Geraniums are usually pretty hardy plants.  Water them good & you'll know in a day or two. :)
