My new Sony vgnn498 computer keeps freezing even when I only have 1 browser open? Defective or just crappy?

Sound to me like you need to re-install the Operating System.

Put in the system restore disk(or make one since sony sometimes requires that) and then run it. I would make system restore disk first then run the reinstall program if i were you.

If you need help go to the windows help and type "system restore disc" and/or "system restore" sony is good about adding stuff to the windows help files.
