  1. Don't use BT.  Find another company.

  2. Normally the only way round this is to get a cable telephone line from Virgin instead, or just not have a line!

The Phone Co-op will also install a phone line for you - but that still costs £118.

However, it seems that BT are running an offer until the end of June where the installation charge is dropped to £29.99 *IF* you take out an 18 month contract with them.

This might be worth looking at - though check that you're happy with the conditions first, as it would stop you changing to another phone provider for 18 months.  See the link to a PDF on BT's website below.

  3. no, i tried this way of thinking and bt said they do not charge me the £125.00 the outreach company charges and then bt take over the line (going live)...its a business they make millions out of people like us. bt owns the  airways and theres nothing we can do.

    "life's a *****!"

  4. when i moved house there i was asked the same but i fought my case with them saying ....why should i pay that amount after being an existing customer with them for years wasn't my fault there was no active line etc ....i told them they have had enough out of me for years to at least drop me down to maybe half price ,anyway they were not  having it ,so i just said OK IL go to another company cancel my account with yous and low and behold they brought it down to £60 :) so you stand yr ground with them ,there's enough so-called "fat cats" running BT .hope you get on ok, good luck just stand yr gound with them .....tc x

  5. BT, BP, Shell - they're all the f**** same!  Profit, profit, profit and to h**l with providing a decent service for the people.  Don't use them!  If you can just use your mobile phone and another line rental company.

  6. Not only will BT charge you to re-activate the line, they will put you on a contract as well. Unfortunately there is little you can do, but talk to them.

  7. their going too charge you   too  connect two wires (red and green) too interface box outside the building  (grey box outside)   do it ur self  save 125 dollers  i did mine when i moved in my house    real easy
