  1. Converting a Ball python from live to PK and on to FT is a long process. If your breeder gave her to you eating live prey, the most sensible thing to do is offer the appropiate (as big as her maximum girth) prey live. If you are corcerned, handle the mouse with thongs, forceps or hemostats and hit it hard enough on the head to 'stun' it. This will disorientate the mouse. Monitor the feeding closely.

Fo the next feeding, kill the mouse at the moment, mere seconds before you feed her. You might have to wiggle a toothpick inside the rodent's nose to get it bleeding so the snake might get more interested. Gently shake the mouse with thongs and tap the rodent's nose on the tail of your snake, this usally triggers a feeding reaction and she will most likely strike at it. If this doesn't work, wait for next feeding and try again, and brush a little warm chicken broth on the rodent's head.

Once she has taken it repeat for 3-4 feedings if you wish to continue to frozen prey.

For frozen prey, make sure its thoroughly thawed and warmed (use a hair dryer if you must) and do as you did with the PK prey.

If she converts, congratulations, if not, continue to monitor live feedings and remember to never leave your snake alone with prey.

  2. Young ball pythons are very picky eaters. They will not eat pre killed or f/t if it has ate live before. I suggest you feeding it a live hopper.

  3. There is noting to worry about.  A BP can go up to 24 months without eating.  If I were you id give it a live mouse.  Thats what I feed mine and she has never turned one down.  There could be lots of reasons your snake wont eat..nervouse, tempeture, encloser size...the list goes on.  Just give it a live mouse and  it wil prob eat it!  Good luck
