Question:

My new business: Chain of Steakhouses where the waiter stays at the table & cuts your meat. Thoughts? Feedback

Always thinking of new ideas & this is a 'can't miss':

Think about it, how many times have you been to a Steakhouse & lose quality time towards the conversation because you have to cut your meat? I estimate the average diner spends 5 minutes cutting their meat and that is conversation time you'll never get back.

You pay for the entire dining experience when you visit restaurants, why be cheated out of 5 minutes cutting your meat? Not to mention the manual labor effort.

My steakhouse restaurants will feature 2 waiters, one takes your order & another that remains at your table. The one remaining table-side sole duty is to cut your meat. He can cut it as follows:

1. Cuts the entire piece of meat once it is served to the size of your liking (Large or small bites)

2. Cuts the meat one bite at a time as you eat it.

I'm trying to get opinions on this extraordinary service my steakhouses will provide. Any feedback?

Also, I have the idea copyrighted so tries to steal it.

  1. Ummmm, NO! I dont think this idea would fly with many diners like previous posters said that would drive up the pricing for the meal, but more importantly how could the diners carry on a private conversation with a waiter just standing there, how embarrassing would that be for all involved. And furthermore having someone else cut up your steak is equally as embarrassing I guess its a noble idea but not one that would likely fly with diners ~ good luck !!!!

  2. the idea is absaloutly ridiculous!  it would be as if you were reverting to age 3!  why would you want to be fed like a baby?  cutting into your food is part of your dining experience! learn to enjoy it!

  3. hahahaha, are you being serious?!?  imagine going on a date there; it would be like having your mom at your table.  that's sooo awkward.  like so so so awkward.  and besides, since when can't people cut their meat and talk at the same time??

  4. I applaud your ingenuity, but this idea isn't for me.  If you're old enough to order a steak, you're old enough to cut it.  And, if you can't cut a steak and carry on a conversation at the same time, chances are you took the short bus to school.

Plus, the additional cost in employing someone to stand at your table would drive the price of the meal through the roof.

    Good luck with it, though.

  5. I understand your inentions. Sure the first one sounds plausible (cutting meat once served) cuz it would be similar to those restaurants that debone your fish, toss your salad, make guacamole at your table side.

The second one does sound rediculous though. Time wasted for your employee and it's the company that will lose money that way.

All in all I give a few stars to the first idea though. =)
