They are speckled all around their tails and bodies but it is not incredibly noticeable, only up close.

  1. if the specking is white then it will be white spot. this is a paracidic infection and needs to be treated immediately as this spreads very quickly and will affect all the fish in the tank. if the fish are darting around and rubbing them selves against hard surfaces then this is the problem. get a treatment straight away as the longer you leave it the more run down the fish will become, also will make them prone to other diseases like fin rot so treat it now.

  2. It means they are ill...you can get water treatment stuff to sort it out x

  3. If its white spots then they have ich and it needs to be treated. You can find ich treatment at any pet store or you can use salt.

    Edit:

Goldfish can ich, it is the most common ailment of all Fresh and Salt water fish

  4. Goldfish don't normally get Ich.

Are they traditional goldfish, or are they fancy tail, koi, ryukkin?

I had a goldfish one time go from black with orange spots, to completely orange after it became 2 - 3 inches in size.

    Sometimes they change their scales.

I wouldn't worry much about it.

Keep your water clean, and see about getting a conditioner for the water to keep mucus on their scales.

Are there any other goldfish in the tank with them? They could be scars.
