  1. First of all, congrats on the new fluffy buddy!

Now, hamsters like all kinds of food. A hamster's main diet should be a commerical pet food from a pet store. The best option is pellets. Look around at the different brands.

As far as biting the cage, he's probably either bored or he's trying to keep his teeth healthy and short. I would get him some toys and definately a wheel! I would also buy some wood blocks for hamsters at the pet store for him to chew on. This should help =)

    Good luck!

  2. Feed them hamster food from pet stores, and some treats once or twice a week. Give him some wooden toys so that he'll chew on those instead. Hamsters need to chew so it's not that he doesn't like his cage, it's that he doesn't have anything better to chew. For help on hamsters check hamster-heaven.com

  3. hamsters like to chew... and the reason they chew is that their insisors continuely gorw and they need to file them down. Try buying some chew sticks for hamsters... And for the food just basic hamster food fortified with vitamins. Dont buy the lab blocks. If you have a wire cage with a door put a luggage lock on it because the hamster will chew on the door and pop it open. (all hamsters do that)

  4. He is a hamster, hamsters chew things especially plastic.  It is good for him to chew to grind down his teeth because they continue to grow.  If you don't want him to chew his cage, I recommend a 10 gallon tank.  A good hamster food is a mix of Mazuri for hamsters and Kaytee with dental bites.  Also, give your hamster some time to adjust, that is a lot of change for such a little man.

  5. hamster bite normally bite their cages because if they don't bit something(a chew toy) their teeth will grow really long and that would be bad for them. Your hamster just wants to get used to it's new home and explore. You should try giving your hamster some time before trying to do anything.

    I hope this helps!
