Question:

My new hydrangia died due to dog pee. Can I dig it up and get it to grow again? Or...?

Will it not bloom again (if ever) until next year? There are no leaves left. Is it possible the bulb is still healthy? Any advice for me?

  1. My guess is that your hydrangea is gone for good.  The way to tell is to look at the roots when you dig it up.  Select a root that is about a half inch or so in diameter.  With a knife, graze a small area of the root surface just enough to remove the outer epidermal layer.  If there is white to light yellow/tan tissue beneath, you may have a chance.  If it is medium brown or darker, then the plant is dead.

Should the plant still be alive, it is going to need a LOT of pampering.
