I just started at this job so I dont feel like it's my place to say anything. Plus they don't seem to care at all. They shred paper because it's confidential but I'm not sure it gets recycled. But they throw away tons of plastic & cans every day. Another problem is my apartment complex doesnt recycle either. I save all my recycleables, they're overflowing because I don't know what to do with them. This issue at my job and at home is really frustrating and it kinda breaks my heart that people don't care about being so wasteful.I want to do something but I don't feel like it's my place being so new. I don't think they'd be willing to spend money to do this. Besides I thought it was the law to recycle.......help! :(

  1. Well i dont what the rules are. but talk to you'r landlord im sure he/she can help you:)

  2. Post flyers around the building that promotes "Living Green" and Recycling and such. Make sure there are proper recycling bins around too.

  3. Why dont you collect all your recycling and take it to the local bottle/paper/material recyling banks. Or on the other hand you could collect it all then go and dump it on the desk of the enviromental officer within your local council!!! I thought that recycling was now compulsary?

  4. Set an example, since you presumably live in Chicago, a city that doesn't give a @*#$&@#$ about recycling.  You can console yourself with the knowledge that even if most of the people choose swinish disregard to their environment, you have risen above the mean.

  5. YOU HAVE A VOICE!!!

    USE IT!

  6. Hey! do you live in the grayson county area? Denison has a recycling program. All people from outside the city limits can recycle items at their site. Go to the Denison water department and purchase cards for $1.00/per 60 llbs of recyclables. they take plastics, paper, card board, tin cans, metal, etc.  No glass though. The site is on HWY 84 right north of the Munson Park. Hope this helps. Grayson County had a recycling center off 1417 but I heard they were closing it. Check with the court house to see if they are still open!

  7. I'm not sure how this works, I found your question on my local freecycle site so I'm assuming you are in my area (Wyoming County PA).  Wyoming County's recycling center is on Rt. 92South next to the police station and Eaton Township has recycle bins on Rt. 29South past WalMart before Sugar Hollow.  Easy drop offs.  As far as work goes, maybe if you volunteer to take the recycling for them, they would be willing to invest in proper bins.  (I guess it depends on the company, if it is huge it may be too much for one person to volunteer for, also some large corporations won't agree to you carrying large bags of stuff out without them being able to check what it is).  Wyoming Co. doesn't require that you separate items so one bin separate from trash is all you need (except maybe that shredded paper).  The company may appreciate that this could save them in garbage removal costs and it is just a good thing to do.....good for PR.  I guess the same would work with the apartment complex.  If they would agree to put bins next to the dumpster or something, maybe you could get a group at the complex together to share in the responsibility of carting it to the recycle center.  Talk to management and put up a poster on the complex bulletin board to see if anyone is like-minded to get a group together.  Good luck!

  8. Well do what I did and take it into your own hands go to your boss and present him with a plan to recycle and you either keep the money or it goes to a group or for xmas party or for employee cookouts depending on what kind of business. Go to cans and bottles.com and you can get neat containers from them for free. I do the program at my work because nobody wants to fuss with the mess and I make some good money while saving my earth. Your apartment, maybe it is extra to request a recycling container you should inquire to the city what the policy is.

  9. do your part, if no one else at works cares, you save your recyclables and then take them to a recycle center.  Most cities have recycle centers through out town I'm sure you can find one and the positive of this is you may actually make a buck from it.

  10. why should you care talk to the land lord about it if it bothers you that much.

  11. I am not sure where you live.. But there is a recycle bin at Cave Spring Middle School on Brambleton Ave. I know there are several at other schools.. I am sure if you call the county school office  that they can tell you where the rest of them are.
