I just adopted a kitten from our local shelter and it has a slight cough. It is nothing real bad and I really want to avoid a trip to the vet if I can, is there a medicine that I give him without going to the vet?

  1. Contact the local shelter and let them know, they might had treated him and they might be able to give you some medication.  If regular vets are too expensive, take him to a vet at the humane society.

The kittens needs medication and you can't give him anything that is for humans.

A kitten can deteriorate real fast from a cold.

  2. Your kitten probably has an upper respiratory infection.  It's pretty common and easily treatable (basically a cat cold), but you do have to go to the vet for some meds.  But if you don't get it taken care of it can become pretty serious.

  3. I love kittens.

  4. ask your local petco employ-ie! it is were the pets go!

  5. If your cat is coughing, wheezing or sneezing get him to a vet for a check up as this could easily be an upper respiratory infection that needs to be treated with antibiotics. This is common with animals from a shelter where there are many animals. Make sure he gets all his shots as he gets to the proper age usually starting at about 10 weeks and one of the shots he will get eventually is to protect from upper respiratory diseases

  6. you need to take it to a vet, otherwise that's sorta neglect.

  7. check with shelter, they might treat for free.many come with a guaranty.

it is probably just "kennel cough". very common, very easily treated. but i dont know of any way to treat with out a vet.

  8. only meds from the vet!!!!  sounds like "kennel cough", my cat had that when i first got him as a kitten from the spca....it only gets worse!

  9. take it to a vet..don't ask people that don't know

  10. upper respiratory disease...must be seen by a vet. and no there is nothing to give over the counter. im a vet tech..get your cat checked out asap

  11. AVOID THE VET. Its just kenell cough, All pets get it from shelters. I adopted a kitten from a shelter a couple of years ago and she started coughing and we wasted 50$ to the vet because we didnt know what it was

  12. get a doggy

  13. take it the the vet A.S.A.P coz cats can die from gettin colds i heard
