Question:

My new poem! "Embracing Distance"?

new gates are opened

water is rushing

and we're learning to swim

a dam(n) is deceased

I watch my language now

I'm sure you do too

but we have differences

we were never close enough

to own the same lip talk

I never embraced your mouth

the way I imagined

but don't start to worry

that imagination is gone:

somewhere hidden in the distance

of our short lives

crossed out to each other

our faces like screaming Xs

and rushing feelings

making them too difficult to be seen

as clear and embraceable

as they once could

instead it seems we're embracing distance:

the silent ringing in our ears

cause we have fought

the ripples and currents too hard

to turn back

and hold each other now.

  1. Power poem about holding on to something that is just not yours.  There is a lot of pain in that.  I love the river analogy, and that it finally just got to hard to hold on any longer.

    Good work!

  2. this also reminds me of my poem! it cuts into you so I like it.

  3. this one is different from the others of yours I have seen.....

you have an incredible way of pulling feelings... tugging at strings....I am utterly amazed by your depth.. power... left begging to read, learn more of your soule... it is one that as young as it should be... is much older... wiser... my words of gushing  praise can not do justice to what you have envisioned...

what I get (and again.. I wanna hear back if I am way off on where I went)

firsts - taste, feelings, loves...  just touching a heart... just beginning to grow....  and it halts the flow.... we watch our steps.. our words... unsure, unclear... of what to say or how to go.....because, close within is not always on the out....   built up - nicely entwined with dam -- there has to be a release... and differences at times.... leads us to a lonely inner place... where imaginings and realities collide... the one we hold in our secret heart, not tasted, touched..

lost buried deep.. "x"ed out... ---- I like this.. an ex.. "x" past and silence, wrong..... also like typing/crossing out it is a blurring out the feelings...  the waves, the rippling whirlpools as the tides and waters change..... like the brook; I can only babble.... left with enlightenment.... knowing the feelings... remorse regret resignation.... acceptance (almost)

and once again... u have almost brought the tears to my eyes... my emotions twisted and tugged on... and the vivid pictures in my mind.. both of rivers turning to white water rapids... hearts meeting, bending.. melding... twisting and turning... the ringing in my ears even.. now is very clear... wow!!

I think this is going to the top of my favorite list of love poetry... longing lost almost tasted love....  of tasting new experiences... of losing out.... of growth... of life...

    thank you

thank you for sharing this piece of you
