  1. get a shoe box, put treats in it, and try and get her to jump in it =)

  2. i dont have a pet rt but i have a guinea pig and my uinea pig sometimes does the same thing to me so its ok. Sometimes pets want to be given time alone or maybe its the way u pick her up. but tie will come and she'll squak for company

  3. i got one of my rats out the 2nd day i had them, and he was fine, at first he wouldnt come out of his cage when i held the door open, but now he jumps straight out. it may take some time but she should come straight out.

  4. My first rat would refuse to get out her cage for a long while.

When we got her a friend and she went out, Lulu started to go out by herself, then we got the BIG cage and she'd sneak out when we left the gate open.

I don't know what it was, but she just did not want to leave her cage when we first got her.

Just give her some time, you can also try leaving the gate open and see if she leaves on her own.

  5. I just reached in and picked mine right up. Sorry I can't be of much help to the skiddish handler, I've had too many years of rodent handling. Rats don't bite too much, she'll probably just tense up, reach in slowly so she can see you coming. Many people like to use an empty purse to carry new rats in for a few hours a day so they can come out and see you when comfortable and ready, and hide when they get scared.

  6. well actually i have never had a rat but i have a friend that has a rat and what she did was you put whatever food of hers just one or two peices on your hand and kind of let her get used to your sent and dont rush her and let her take her time in a few days she will be much more friendly it is just beacuse she is afread just try to comfort her and let her adjust she is scared becaus of the car ride and the sound and new surroundings so give it time and she will get used to you soon ok relax and calm down and she will like you and let you touch her!

  7. Give her time, It takes about 2 weeks for a rat to get used to it's new surroundings. I have 5 babies and they didn't come out on their own at first, but now 3 weeks later they jump at me when i open the cage lol. Offer her treats and just build up that trust. Spend lots of time with her.
