My new skates?

I just got a new pair of Risport RF4s. I used to have Graf Villars (now arosas) and they were wayy lighter, but no where near as comfortable as the riports.

I am now to scared to do forward crossovers because they are just so diffrent.

Any tips on getting used to crossovers again?

  1. just believe in yourself! and try to do it just like you used to. you will be fine!!!

  2. Omg, I love agree. I can never do anything in a new skate. Go to your rink one day and just skate round. get used to it. Then to might want to like do it in slowly, then I guess you can go back to normality!

  3. unfortunately, the fastest way to break in skates that i know of is to do lots of powerful crossovers around the rink (big figure 8's) :P

i had the same fear of crossovers when i got my last pair, but i found practicing backwards ones and practicing all my edges helped heaps to get my confidence back.

once ur feeling more confident start doing the forwards ones slowly, they dont have to be fast. just make sure to bend your knees lots and focus on balance..

good luck :) dont worry, u'll get used to it, u'll be fine!

  4. You'll want to break the boot in enough first since crossovers require you really bending into the boot.  Before you start to work on crossovers, just do some lunges, swizzles, pumps, and things like that to help break in the boot.  Once you notice and slight crease forming on the side of the boot (usually where the eyelets end), you could probably start working on crossovers.  Just be sure not to rush yourself.
